Ⅰ.Introduction of Program
This program is organized by Yanshan University in cooperation with Curtin University of Australia. It was approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in November 2014. Meanwhile this major also received the approval certificate for the Chinese-foreign cooperative education program.
Yanshan University is a national priority university built by the government of Hebei Province, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Defense Science and State Administration of Science. Yanshan University is also the National first-class university and world first-class discipline construction university, which is supported by Hebei Province, meanwhile it is a member of Beijing High-tech University Alliance as well as. Curtin University is one of the largest and most multicultural universities in Western Australia, whichwas founded in 1967, with a high international reputation and one of the 12 Australian universities which were ranked by Times as one of the top 200 universities in the world for three consecutive years. The Times also ranked Curtin University as one of the top 100 universities in the world within 50 years of its founding, and the number one in Western Australia. The university has a student population of nearly 50,000, including nearly 10,000 international students from more than 100 countries and territories around the world. Curtin's main campus is located in the capital of Western Australia, Perth.
Ⅱ.Project Benefits
1. Teacher Arrangement
The program shares the teaching faculty of Yanshan University and Curtin University. The professional faculty all have background of study abroad and professorial and doctoral degrees, and their professional and teaching qualifications are recognized by both universities. At least 12 (20 for students studying abroad in the fourth academic year) core courses of the program are taught by foreign faculty.
2. Cultivation method
We are dedicated to train externally minded industrial engineering professionals. In the combination of Chinese and foreign faculty, Chinese faculty focus on cultivating students' basic knowledge, professional knowledge and application ability, while foreign faculty focus on cultivating students' English application ability and the basic skills of international engineers. In terms of diverse teaching methods, multimedia and "electronic model" teaching methods are implemented, and simulation training is added to practical courses. We strengthen practical teaching and training and extra-curricular internship and practice (including social practice and visit activities during holidays).
3.Teaching Management
The program will be conducted with the teaching methods approved by both universities. All courses will be taught in face-to-face sessions. With Chinese and foreign teachers teaching together, the Chinese teacher will teach in Chinese or bilingual instruction, progressively bilingual or fully English instruction.
4.Scholarship Settings
Curtin University sets a program-specific scholarship for students who study abroad, the amount is approximately 10% of the foreign tuition fees paid for the year.
Ⅲ.Duration and Certificate Award
The industrial engineering undergraduate program adopts the "3+1" training model. i.e. Students study in Yanshan University from the first to the third academic year and in Curtin University in the fourth academic year. Students who apply for the program will receive a graduation certificate and a degree from Yanshan University and a degree from Curtin University at the same time after completing the specified teaching program.
Students will be sent an official admission letter by the foreign department before they enter the foreign partner program. Students who cannot study at Curtin University due to various reasons still can continue their studies Industrial Engineering cooperative program in Yanshan University after their application and approval by the university After completing the specified teaching program, they can obtain graduation certificate and degree certificate in Yanshan University.
